I walked in, wondering where my aunt was.

My dad called.

"Hi, dad."

"Matilda, you have to come home. Right now." He said.

"What? Why?"

"Your mother is missing."

I gasped.

"Scarlet hand?" I guessed, crossing my fingers and hoping this was not the case.

"Yes." He said.

"Ok." I said quietly and put the phone down. Then, I went and packed. I left my aunt a note explaining everything, and then I left.
